Comment: This is the most recent installment in the Mark of the Vampire series by Laura Wright. I've had the boo to read for weeks but now managed to read. This book continues the action where it was left over in the previous book.

Synjon is a vampire we've met some books ago and he lost his mate in a terrible way. Trying to go with her, he tried to kill himself but was rescued by Petra and they were intimate. Later, he swore revenge against Cruen and gave away his emotions to do so.
Petra got pregnant after her time with Sin. She needs him to feed but after losing his emotions he doesn't care. Her brothers kidnap him to force him to help and after many misunderstandings in the mix, they have to seem united to prove nothing illegal was done against vampires so the Order doesn't punish Petra's family. But is revenge over for Sin?

Many people loved this book but I found it mostly boring. The previous one, Eternal Demon, was full of action and surprises and it was a blast to read. This wasn't. In fact, this book didn't seem to have any plot and just went through the motions. They were apart, were then forced to be together, he didn't want to change his ways, they had sex, they had to prove he wasn't kidnapped, suddenly he wanted a family, then the HEA. Really boring and a chore to read, actually. 

This series has always bordered on the erotica, because not only there was lots of expected sex around, but the language the author uses has many erotic charged tones and is crude many times, not just with the f word, but many others not as seen in romance as that. I made an effort to put aside my dislike at some words and expressions and even the cliché scenes and after the amazing previous book, I thought the author was leading into a good path. I had the feeling this book was a step backwards and right now I fear for the next one, with shape shifters, which usually cheers me up but right no, not really.

I didn't feel the love or the commitment between Petra and Sin. There was attraction, as it is to be expected, but apart from that I was never convinced of their feelings and what it meant for each other to be with the other one. It was all so mechanical, so robotic...the sudden move into his home wasn't believable. Sin's sudden regained emotions weren't a subject well exploited as they should, I think. the whole take on Cruen is annoying to me at this point. I thin the attempts to make this a long series feels like a failure int his book. 
It's really weird how one book can look great and another not, but it's not the first time it happens to me while reading a series. I just hope the next book isn't as weak as this one.

There were clues about further books but I have the feeling it will be another struggle in the plot department. Hopefully I'm wrong.
As for this one, a disappointment, and I really wish I could have liked it better, but it wasn't the case...

Laura Wright - Eternal Demon

Comment:  This is the latest installment in the Mark of the Vampire series. This time it’s Erion’s story, he’s the mutore twin of Nicholas, the hero of book #2, which means he wasn’t recognized at birth and was raised by the villain of the series. In previous books he and others like him found the truth and now he and his brothers are more of a family.

This story follows the things happening in previous books, where Erion found out he had a son when the villain always convinced him and the ones like him they couldn’t father children, so he’s ecstatic even if plans never to tell the truth to the boy. However, he has been kidnapped and Erion figures the best way to get him back is to exchange him with something the villain wants, in this case his new bride.

Hellen is a demon from Hell, literally, and she is sacrificing herself because of her sisters. When she goes to the surface to meet Cruen, she’s is kidnapped and arrested in Erion’s house. She thinks she will be released soon but during the time she spends with Erion something happens and they start to develop feelings for each other.

I enjoyed this story. The storyline is continuous, which means we follow the same things from book to book, even if the main couple differs. But the author managed to have a good balance between the continuity of the story and the detachment elements of a new romance with each book. Still, one of the best things is to see recurrent characters showing up and still being part of things after their stories have been told.

The two main characters don’t seem to have much in common at first, but throughout the story we get to find out more not only about their personalities but also about the nature of their origins and in the end they do have more in common than what they thought. This is paranormal so in a way usual dealing between the couple has to be understood by different rules. But what matters is how consistent their relationship gets and in the end I think the author has successfully shown how dedicated they seem to be towards one another.

The story offers quite the news about other characters and what they are doing and even about things we wouldn’t be expecting. Once again, this book ended with one or two revelations I wasn’t picturing, so now I am again very eager to know what will happen.

Erion and Hellen have found common things to them and tried to give the other what they thought was best but they overcame that need to think for the other and ended up admitting the best way to help the other is to make each other as happy as possible. They went after their HEA and I was quite happy with the way it was gotten, although I still have some questions about the way things will work for them. I guess I’ll have to wait and see. But I’m happy with the way things are going. This is an imaginary world, so like I said different rules, but I was still entertained and satisfied with how the author has presented the story.

Laura Wright - Eternal Beast

Comment: Another of the countless series I keep updated.

This is the story of Gray, the brother of the protagonist of book #1. 

Gray is a vampire Impure, meaning he doesn't have the same abilities and power the Purebloods have, or the social status. His sister's mate helped him unblocking his mind for he was in an mental institute due to his lack of social response because he kept hearing voices in his head without the possibility to filter them or to avoid them. With Alexander's help, he can now function better and even put himself in the position of leader of the Impures' revolution so they could have as many rights as the Purebloods.

Dillon is his mate, she's known as a Pureblood veana - the author's word for woman - and she's a fighter too. But she has a secret, something we've found out in the previous book, which is the fact she's mutore too. A mutore is a shape shifter, kind of. She can shift but apparently she doesn't have the same thought process as she has in her vampire mind, which, to be honest, is weird. Anyway. She feared rejection by her family and never said a word but now her secret is out ans she wants revenge against the one who caused it.

Dillon and Gray have always been attracted to each other since they met but now it gets clear why they couldn't fight it or get it over with.

Well, I liked this book. I think the author managed to write an interesting story, many little tidbits about this and that to keep us thinking and wondering what it could mean in the future.

The romance was fine. I mean, nothing amazing or sudden, but good in a certain way. It had wonderful moments and other not so cute, but overall, good. I was more happy with the fact the guy was the one accepting the fact they're mates and wanted to be with her before she admitted it to herself.

The bad guys played their part and I was always curious to see what they could come up with next although these books don't have a super villain, it had bad guys doing bad things and we want them dead or punished but I can't say I hate them immeasurably.

My favorite part is how they all live as a family. They, the heroes, of course. Throughout the books the three main characters have found out they have more brothers and some of them are also shape shifters and will certainly have their story in upcoming books. But they're getting to know each other, to trust each other and they live together, as a family. I love this part! It's my favorite thing in this kind of book, the scenes where they act like family and we want them to accept the others and to like them and to just be a family. It's great. Can't wait for everyone's stories just to watch them find a mate and be happy and have the support of the others.

Like in the previous books, this one ended with something happening suddenly and we just know it will be a key incident in the next story.

So, in the end, this book is more worthy to me because of everything else and not the romance, although I liked it too because they were two characters we knew and wanted happy.

Laura Wright - Eternal Captive

Comment: To be honest there were some things that I had already forgotten about this series when I picked this book. This actually happens a lot to me because I read so many books, and so many of them part of a series that things start to blur although I can manage to separate them pretty well. Does this happen to you? Is your head full of worlds?

Anyway, back to the book. It's the third in the Mark of the Vampire series. It's the story of Lucien, the younger of the three Roman brothers and his obsession with Bronwyn Kettler, someone he met in book #1. They didn't seem to get along that well but when you hate someone so badly at first sight it might not be hate at all. While battling his fate of becoming the breding male, someone in their world's lore that will have the mind of an animal and would want nothing but sex, Lucien is also trying to protect Bron and to be honest I really liked how they finally admitted their feelings.
I think the language the author uses to describe some sexual scenes didn't have to be so crude, which I think it is, but it's her right..and although it suits Lucien's mood and personality I'd prefer to not read some words so many times. In terms of plot, I was quite surprised over some things, especially some family connections about the Romans. I'm really curious to see what's coming in the following books. Also we discover a certain information in the end of the book concerning another character, and I can't wait for the next book to see it develop. Discoveries apart I was happy with the book, it has a good feeling of entertainment and without the discoveries it would still be quite readable. Plus, the bad guy is getting some well deserved setbacks. I'll await for the next one with some expectations...I hope I won't be disappointed.

Laura Wright - Eternal Kiss

Raised by the Breed, Nicholas Roman wants to stop the Eternal Order of Vampires from controlling his life, and using other males from his bloodline-including possibly his son-for their vicious reign. Only a beautiful vampire stranger can help him. But what are her true motives?

Comment: This is the second installment on the Mark of the Vampire series by mrs Wright. This book focuses on the second brother, Nicholas, as he goes through his morph and finds his mate.

I think this book had a better storyline and presented an interesting couple. Nick had an awful past, one we can't help but feel sad about and he still lives according to it, which is more difficult to accept, but when we stop to think not everyone would react well if something like that were to happen to us, then it gets easier to justify it as possible.

Kate also has something to go through, she's been in jail for years and we get to know the real reasons why almost in the end and that redeems her in our eyes.

I think in the end it's good to see them together, although in some parts the reluctant acceptance of things (mostly the mating itself) gets a bit boring, considering the sexual part is too emphasized as usual. If it's that special, that hard to ignore, why such reluctance to accept things as they are? Anyway, all things considered I liked the romance.

This story also brings closure in one thing and sets up the following books. I think it's great that we know more things about other characters. There's also a big something that I didn't see coming and can't wait to see how it will play out.

The next book is about Lucien, the third brother, and we already know who his mate is, I just don't know how it will happen, although I have an idea...

It releases next year, we must wait then.

Laura Wright - Eternal Hunger

Comment: Years ago, I did read one of the author's stories she wrote for harlequin. The book had been interesting, but obviously short and to sugary.
I felt a bit reluctant to read this book because I was afraid to read more of it, but then I must say I got positively surprised to be proven wrong.

The story is focused on the Roman brothers, a trio of vampires who severed links with their vampire community and went to see and live the world outside. Now the Council wants their help to look for and kill an Impure who wants to destroy the race as it is. Alexander is the oldest and gets marked to change and to become a vampire in its last phase. In this state he must look for his true mate in order to stay alive and healthy.
Sara is a doctor who gets on the vampire way and ends up helping him. Thus starts an adventur neither saw coming.

Like I said, I'm surprised by the book and by how happy it made me feel. This didn't dazzled me at all, but it started a good story and one I feel the need to keep reading about. I'll buy the second one for sure.
One thing I liked in the book is the fact we have many characters and slowly we get to see a bit of them all. The book isn't only about the romance and that is something I love in my books.
The fact the story is divided in, mostly, short paragraphs also helps the reader feel it's reading more and more and to avoid boring moments.
I'm very eager to read about secondary characters and to know how this couple is doing, I liked how the author made things work out that way.
